Working in Vastu is a Pleasure!

Nestled in the soft, forested hills of southern New Hampshire, in the quintessential New England town of Peterborough, is a recently completed Maharishi Vastu office building. The building is home for three businesses owned and run by three members of a family who built their Maharishi Vastu home almost fifteen years ago. The new office building was built using modular construction, meaning it came to the site in “boxes” that were built in a factory. The boxes were then assembled and secured together on site where a conventional foundation had already been poured. In most modular construction the interior walls,flooring, plumbing and electrical wiring are completed in the factory. This imeans shorter construction time, less construction waste, and the ability to adhere to precise dimensions and Maharishi Vastu guidelines for green and efficient building materials.

We have several home plans that are modular friendly. Depending on your location, this system of building and construction may be an economical and time-saving way to go.

We’re happy to share some interesting experiences from the people now working in this building:

“My own experience has been of opening out into much greater lightness, creativity, and positivity. Everything is less of a strain, and I love coming here and being in the new office. Anything seems possible, and I wonder why I saw boundaries before in areas where now I see pure potential. Also, although the business I am in (magazine publishing consulting) is contracting, and times are very difficult for publishers, I have gotten new business inquiries every week since we came here, and have brought on two new accounts. Since most of my clients are with me for years, each new account is very significant. I also have a couple other new ones that I’m waiting to bring on. And one of our big clients, who was very difficult over the past year, has once again become very easy and appreciative, a pleasure to work with. My husband, who also works in the building, has appeared much more smooth, positive and happy.”

“The first time I walked into the new Vastu office building it was still in the building phase, but I didn’t want to leave. I wouldn’t have minded setting up a desk amidst the construction. That experience has continued. I come to work and it feels lively and supportive. Other than the feeling in the office, there are two things I’ve noticed. The first is that when a problem comes up it’s both easier to solve than it would have been before and it feels like a smaller problem. I first noticed this within the first day or two of working here when, in one afternoon, I accomplished something I had spent days working on. The second is that I’ve also found that communication has improved in our office. Work feels more collaborative than it did before.”

Principles of Vastu Planning in the Light of Group Theory

This book describes the principles that underlie the measurement system used in Maharishi Vedic architecture in the language of group theory.

The Vastu measurement system is based on the square and its eight levels of symmetry. Using the concepts of modern group theory from mathematics, the author shows the deep principles at the foundation of the measurement system of Maharishi Vastu design in a way that explains their logical significance. Measurements based on Vedic dimensions are vital to Vedic architecture because they bind its various parts together in harmony.

The second part of the book explains how planning according to Natural Law (I’m fine sticking with lower case but do we have a convention on this phrase?) for an entire country is practical, and beneficial for the population. This ancient system of country planning outlines the concept of the “Brahmasthan” or geographical center of a country, from where a grid based on latitude and longitude emerges. This grid forms the basis of Vastu planning for homes, villages, towns, provinces, and the whole country. It also details how different functions of a country, city or town are given specific placement so as to complement their own activity and not clash with other functions. This allows every country to be planned in accordance with Natural Law, creating harmony throughout society.
