Vedic Garden City Planning draws crowds at UK "Ecobuild" exhibition

More than 60,000  building professionals as well as the general public visited the recent EcoBuild exhibition held at the Excel Center in London.  the theme of this year's exhibition was  exploring new possibilities to create a sustainable future and the Maharishi Vastu booth drew large,  enthusiastic crowds.

Maharishi Vastu experts John Renwick and Henry Brighouse presented the concepts of Vastu city planning as laid out in the recently published i Book, Vastu City Planning (see previous blog entry) and how the revival of this ancient system of city planning and design is really the most complete form of sustainable living.

What attracted people's attention was the concrete example  of Rendlesham Garden Village in Suffolk, UK. This entire community of 54 homes, with 4 more under construction, was planned, conceived and built according to the principles of Vedic architecture.

As the presenters explained the principles and key features of each house and the village as a whole, many people expressed a strong connection with the concepts of Orientation towards the east and the silent core of the home, the brahmasthan.

John Renwick, chief architect and Maharishi Vastu consultant for the project from its inception also showed a fly through, animation of the development.

The beautiful homes in this vedic garden community have all been built with local workmanship.  and, as we have seen in other MVA building projects, the workers enjoy the harmonious atmosphere in the village so much they jump at any opportunity to come back and work there again!
